The hardest part of teaching is the realization that you've unintentionally said or done something that hurt a student's feelings. Apologizing is not easy, and sometimes teachers feel like they shouldn't because it would diminish their authority. For me, apologizing does not excuse our mistakes. Instead, it helps us learn from our mistakes so that we can be better next time. The best part of teaching is learning from students every day.
