The distance of time between you and your past writing can be really eye-opening. I remember leaving for college and finding a shoebox full of notes my friends and I had passed back and forth to each other in middle school (you have to remember there was no texting back then, so we hand-wrote notes and folded them in all kinds of crazy ways). Going back to read these notes made me laugh, cry, and smile, but it also showed me the troubles I thought were insurmountable then were really nothing at all - that I was a survivor! I wonder what you'll think of your own writing, and your 8th grade self, when you get a letter to your future self from your 8th grade self!
Use the website FUTUREME.ORG to send yourself a letter in the future. Choose a year from now, five years from now, or 10 years from now if you want.
Consider including elements from your "In 10 Years" blog post, too. If you don't have your post saved on your laptop, find your post online at http://mrsgallant.edublogs.org/.
